Tooth Cement and Other Fillings
Here come the tricklings of
ingratitude
Uncongenially slipping through the interlocked gazes
of overlapping admirers,
Congealing like tartar in between loose pockets
of my weak gums
Here come the percussing
contradictions
Brushing through with gratuitous force,
condensing the crusty remnants of
morning drool into a vanishing vapour
of enormous feeling
Here come the newly adopted teeth
capping over all this rot
H e r e c o m e s n e w r o t
Here comes the triangle
once again incising the square slice of burnt toast
swaddled in brackish butter
each flake of granulated salt caves in
to rest at the bed of the molar waiting to greet it in its groove
It cannot help but whir and whine at every bite
Here you can hear its blunt chomping
Here comes the dull tooth
reminding me of the incisor it could be
if I simply sharpen it with every bite into all that
I have simply learned to swallow without chewing
Here comes the triple meter
1-2-3 1-2-3 and a 1 and a 2 and a 3 and a
ring of the tempting
nascent threat of tri-shaped potential emerges
It compels me to engage
in the active hoping-dreaming-praying, the nauseating manifesting and
the touch-wood-ing of it all
to get to be a body pointy enough to be a vertex
and
to taste the devastating thrill of two bodies
converging at the point of
my t o n g u e
Here comes the
composite amalgam that will fill all the rut
I might have overlooked,
just for the abrasion of new anger to furrow
somewhere and come again
here
to rut Here
and come Here
Here
It comes,
this new new rut,
here,
and it never leaves.
